About Us

The American Third World Academic Foundation (ATWAF) was founded in 1996 in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, as a non-profit entity dedicated to education.
ATWAF is the charitable arm of the Morgan Group of Companies. It is funded and sponsored by MGC. In addition, ATWAF receives donations and grants from like-minded individuals and organizations that believe in its mission.
ATWAF aims to foster a better world by enabling individuals and communities to become self-sufficient.
To realize this vision, ATWAF has launched various initiatives and programs focused on improving education and training, addressing poverty, reducing unemployment, and empowering both individuals and communities in developing countries.

Our Journey

Our Foundation has recently undergone a name change from “The American Third World Academic Foundation” to “American Academic Foundation for Emerging Countries.” The phrase “Third World Countries” was widely recognized and accepted at the time of our Foundation's inception three decades ago. However, over the years, terminology has evolved. Initially, the term “Developing Countries” replaced “Third World Countries,” but it has since been further refined to “Emerging Countries.” The name change will not impact our obligations and commitments; rather, it signifies our awareness of the evolving landscape in which we operate, in fact, subsequent, to the name change, we have broadened our scope and reach by launching new initiatives and incorporating additional countries.
